A hurried note from Brazil... I cannot forget the joy that overcame me and my friends when we saw the big banner that read "Internet" at the bottom of that hill in the Pelourinho. The "cafe" was a second floor, open air apartment with a bunch of computers. And it was of course swamped with SAS-ers.
A GARGANTUOUS letter from South Africa... with a detailed recollection of Brazil, as well as general life on the ship. You will need a few minutes for this piece!
An even LONGER letter, from India. This is one of my favorite writing samples, because it includes my Kenya experiences. Grab a cup of hot cocoa, turn off that answering machine, and dive in.
A brief note from Malaysia I unfortunately had no time to get into much detail.
Another brief one, from Viet Nam. This was sent from a hostel that took forever to find. It was under $2 for over an hour of use, if I recall correctly. From the same place, a note home.
A brief description of Hong Kong sent from Beijing.
A note home from Beijing sent just before the riots. This was in the classiest hotel ever, and the funny thing is that it is a 5 star Holiday Inn. A general note from Shanghai, confirming i was still alive. And a final note home responding to my mom simply writing "what the hell is going on over there?". The two from Shanghai were sent from the coolest internet cafe, where they served tea or whatever, with fancy desks and such.
A morose note sent from home, after getting no sleep in 2 days. Soon after writing this, I went to sleep for 17 hours. I have since adjusted to life on land.
